Files maintained by Armstrong from his time as an undergraduate until about 1980. They provide a comprehensive record of his philosophical writings, including essays, articles, lectures and book reviews and also associated correspondence, reviews of his early books and notes taken at lectures he attended. There is also a series of files of speeches, addresses, articles and other papers on social and political issues, especially during the Vietnam War years. Finally, there is correspondence, submissions, petitions, circulars, cuttings and other papers of disputes within the Department of Philosophy at the University of Sydney, 1965-85. Correspondents include J.J.C. Smart, Alan Stout, Eugene Kamenka, Owen Harries, Keith Campbell, John Burnheim and Michael Devitt.
